‘She Has Become a Piñata!’ Dana Perino Defends Karine Jean-Pierre for Taking ‘The Arrows’ Over Hunter Biden Pardon

Fox News’ Dana Perino expressed her sympathy for White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for taking the slings and arrows after President Joe Biden reversed course and pardoned his son, Hunter Biden.

Perino’s defense came after a supercut of Jean-Pierre repeatedly denying that President Biden planned to pardon his son. Last week, Biden issued a blanket pardon to his son spanning a period of 11 years. The announcement forced Jean-Pierre to take the heat from the press.

“I feel Biden did her a disservice,” Perino said on Monday’s America’s Newsroom. “Because if you are going to do that to your press secretary, you should be the one to stand up and take the arrows and take the questions and say, ‘Don’t blame her. That was my position. I changed my mind and here is why,’ but he’s incapable of doing that. So, she has basically become a piñata for the past week.”

Conservative commentator Sage Steele added, “He isn’t capable, and more so with his character.”

“And maybe unwilling,” Perino added.

“That’s what I was going to say. The character…he is unwilling, and that’s the key and that’s why they lost,” Steele said.

Earlier in the segment, Steele also propped up Jean-Pierre.

“When the news came down about him pardoning his son, the first person I thought of was Karine Jean-Pierre. Not for sympathy or empathy,” Steele said. “I even tweeted, ;This is not her fault. She is a mouthpiece.’ Now, are there decisions we have to make based on our bosses, and do we want to be part of things that we know are lies or could be lies? I guess so. But at the end of the day, she was doing her job. She deserves the questioning at this point, right, because she did stand up there. But did she know he was going to do this the whole time? What is she supposed to do and say?”
