‘Huge Mistake!’ Joe Scarborough Calls Out JD Vance Defense Of Trump’s ‘Authoritarian’ Rhetoric As ‘Unfiltered’
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough called out Republican running mate Senator JD Vance’s (R-OH) characterization of former President Donald Trump’s “enemy within” remarks as a slip.
Vance appeared for an interview on Fox News on Monday, speaking with America’s Newsroom host Bill Hemmer, who asked the Republican about alarm caused by Trump’s comment that he planned to go after his political opponents if elected.
In response, Trump’s running mate began: “First of all, Donald Trump is unfiltered. I think it’s one of the reasons why the campaign has gone well, is because he’s not doing a basement campaign strategy. He is not just running on slogans. When people ask him questions, he speaks from the heart.”
On Tuesday’s Morning Joe, Scarborough chased the claim that the “enemy within” comment was “unfiltered.”
Here we have, again, this march to election denialism right out in the open. Now, we have it again. Why is Donald Trump saying he is going to use the military against his political opponents? His answer is [Speaker Emerita] Nancy Pelosi’s taxes, right? We know we’re going to get to where, at the end, he’s going to say, because they deserve it. He said [Harris-supporting Republican] Liz Cheney deserves a military tribunal.
Think about how crazy it is and what a huge mistake [Vance] made yesterday when he’s asked, why does Donald Trump keep saying that he is going to use the military against the, quote, enemy within, against opponents. JD Vance says, because he is unfiltered, he speaks from the heart.
The authoritarian means what the authoritarian says.
