Fox News’ Bret Baier Hammers Kamala Harris for Dodging Press, Bill Hemmer Adds ‘We Can’t Be the Only Media Company That Talks About It’
Fox News’ Bret Baier and Bill Hemmer took turns on America’s Newsroom Tuesday assailing Vice President Kamala Harris for dodging the press since she became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee last month.
While breaking down her selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate, Baier argued that Harris “has to have a controversial, or at least fair and balanced, tough interview before, you know, in this time, where someone really goes after some of these different positions. And if she doesn’t deal with that, then it’s going to be like the thing that is just hanging over this campaign. She has to deal with it.”
“But we can’t be the only media company that talks about it,” replied Hemmer. “Sixteen days she has gone without a significant interview. “I mean, is it possible that she runs the clock until Chicago? That’d be extraordinary. And then you’d have to ask yourself, what are you hiding? And what’s your team hiding from?”
“Yeah, and it’s going to be tough if she doesn’t do it. I mean, there’s going to be, it’s going to be building and building and building,” agreed Baier.
“David Axelrod interestingly said over the weekend, I don’t think we have the clip to play, but he basically made the case that what Democrats are seeing with Harris right now is this euphoria,” offered Gillian Turner. “But it’s really a sort of like trauma response to the fact that they were so down in the dumps about the Biden reelection campaign for months and months and months, and he said he anticipates it’s going to wear off really quickly. This is David Axelrod.”
President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid and endorsed Harris on July 21. Since then, Harris has held a number of campaign events, but has not submitted to a sit-down interview with the press.
