Fox News’s Dana Perino Claims Harris ‘Did Not Give Interviews’ Despite Interview With Fox News
Fox News’s Dana Perino offered a curious critique of Vice President Kamala Harris by alleging the former Democratic presidential nominee “did not give interviews.”
That would come as a surprise to several people who interviewed Harris, including Bret Baier of Fox News.
During the campaign, Harris came under media scrutiny over an apparent lack of interviews even though she had several sit-downs with local media outlets in swing states, and interviews with Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, as well as a slew of other outlets.
Wednesday’s edition of The Five on Fox News opened with a discussion of former Harris advisers’ explanations for what went wrong with the campaign. This included autopsies from Stephanie Cutter and David Plouffe. Cutter said the campaign was “up against a narrative that we weren’t doing anything, we were afraid to have interviews,” which she called “bullshit.”
“Oh, the places we’ll go in this segment,” Perino stated after airing Cutter’s remarks. “First of all, she did not give interviews. We do television. We were looking, begging for any sort of clip to use of her. She was not doing that.”
Harris’s interview with Fox News was particularly notable. Mere seconds into the conversation, Harris and Baier clashed and kept talking over one another. “I’m not finished,” the vice president declared at one point. At another juncture, Harris objected to what she said was a misleading clip of Donald Trump that Baier played during the interview, which Baier later said was indeed a “mistake.” The interview ended when Harris’s campaign gave Baier a “hard wrap.”
