Joy Reid Claims Harris Campaign Was ‘Flawlessly Run’ While on Verge of Blowout Loss to Trump
MSNBC’s Joy Reid offered a bizarrely laudatory assessment of the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, who was on the verge of losing the election in blowout fashion to former President Donald Trump on election night.
Decision Desk HQ called the race for Trump, who won a second term on Tuesday night after being denied one by President Joe Biden in 2020. After Biden ended his reelection bid in July, Harris quickly assembled a staff and set out to maintain Democratic control of the White House.
The former president won successfully defended every state he won in 2020 while adding Pennsylvania and Georgia, thus clinching the 270 electoral votes he needed to win.
Shortly before Pennsylvania and the whole race was called for Trump, Reid gushed that Harris’s campaign was run “flawlessly”:
I think it’s important to say, anyone who has experienced or been in the United States for any period of time and experienced this country’s history and knows it, cannot have believed it would be easy to elect a woman president, let alone a woman of color. Let’s just be clear. And nothing that was true yesterday about how flawlessly this campaign was run, is not true now.
I mean, this really was an historic, flawlessly run campaign. She had– Queen Latifah never endorses anyone. She came out and endorsed her. You know, I mean, she had every prominent celebrity voice. She had the Taylor Swift, she had the Swifties, she had the B-hive. You could not have run a better campaign in that short period of time. And I think that’s still true.
Reid then lamented that Americans had to wait for more votes to be counted and reported, stating that pessimism could feed a Democratic “doom loop.”
Despite the “flawlessly run” campaign, Harris’s loss was called even sooner than that of Hillary Clinton’s in 2016.
