‘He Shares Our Democratic Values’: Colorado’s Dem Governor Praises ‘Pro-Choice’ RFK Jr. in CNN Back and Forth

Democratic Colorado Governor Jared Polis praised Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “Democratic values” during an interview with CNN’s Kaitlin Collins on Friday night.

While Polis noted he did not agree with President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services on everything, he told Collins Kennedy shared a lot of his values.

On The Source, the host noted Polis expressed reservations about Kennedy’s vaccine skepticism this past summer on social media.

“What changed from August 25th to now, in your view of RFK Jr.?” she asked.

Polis replied, “Well, obviously, I would strongly oppose RFK or anybody trying to get in the way of measles or polio vaccines, and I don’t think he will. Those are good questions for senators to ask them to confirm.”

The governor said he believed Kennedy would not use his office to oppose vaccines but to instead advocate for choice.

After Collins went back and forth with Polis on Kennedy’s opinions and previous statements, she said, “You are the one who said you’re excited about RFK Jr. That’s why I’m asking.” Polis replied:

Sure. Well, again, you know, compared to the pharmaceutical lobbyists, the appointed last time, this is somebody who will take on big pharma and is absolutely not a fox guarding the henhouse. This is somebody that we have great opportunities to work with on improving nutrition, on addressing chronic disease. And of course, somebody who is pro-climate, pro-choice, essentially shares our Democratic values. Obviously was a Democratic candidate for president as well, running in the primary against Joe Biden.

After Kennedy dropped his presidential bid in August, Polis shared a Fox News clip of the political scion discussing his wish to make Americans “healthy.”

Polis commented, “Not sure how bringing back Measles and bringing back Polio makes anyone more healthy…”
