Fox’s Joey Jones Says If Canada Becomes 51st State Like Trump Suggested, It Should Be Chopped In Two: ‘Separate Those Liberal Cities’

Fox News’ Joey Jones suggested that if Canada become a state as President-elect Donald Trump floated this week then it should be chopped into two states to avoid the “liberal cities.”

Jones co-hosted Fox & Friends on Thursday and made his suggestion while covering Truth Social posts from Trump the day prior in which he said he could lower taxes for Canadians and urged hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to run for prime minister.

“I just left Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One’ as he is known in Ice Hockey circles. I said, ‘Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada – You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign.’ He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be so much fun to watch!” Trump wrote in one message.

In another message, he blasted current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and floated the idea of Canada becoming part of the United States, something he’s mentioned before.

“To Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World. Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and, who want the U.S. to be there, and we will!” he wrote.

On Thursday, Jones took the idea further and suggested two states.

The Fox contributor argued:

There are a lot of Canadians that watch our show and I get reminded of that on social media because I’m a little bit of an American snob. And they remind me that they watch and I know they have a lot of pride in their nationality and who they are, but if Canada became a state, it should become two states because we don’t need one liberal state, we need to separate those liberal cities and the rest of that country. I’m just saying, you know, for my own conservative politics, make it two, not just one.

Canada and Trudeau have come under fire from a number of conservatives in recent years, mainly thanks to their strict lockdown orders during the Covid pandemic.

Jones argued the effect on the “balance of power” of absorbing another country would need to be weighed.

“It’s the same debate that goes around Puerto Rico. How does it change the balance of power? Not just the liability of bringing in a state, but, you know, where does it lean?” he said. “It is one or is it two?”
