‘I Don’t Call Many Things Racist…But…’: Fox Contributor Dunks on Canadian Official’s Complaint About Being Compared to Mexico

Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce leveled an accusation of bigotry at a Canadian official who said it was “insulting” for the U.S. to compare his country to Mexico.

Ontario Premiere Doug Ford made the comment to the Associated Press this week after President-Elect Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% tax on all products entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico.

“To compare us to Mexico is the most insulting thing I’ve ever heard from our friends and closest allies, the United States of America,” Ford said. “I found his comments unfair. I found them insulting. It’s like a family member stabbing you right in the heart.”

Bruce jumped on Ford’s assertion during Friday’s Outnumbered.

“Particularly, what struck me — and I don’t call many things racist out of the gate — but to complain about being compared to an ancient, great civilization is very strange,” Bruce said. “It is an ancient people combined with the people of Spain. The history of that, hundreds of years. The impact in southern and northern America is remarkable. And to get upset because you’re compared to Mexico is disgusting.”

Bruce then unleashed on Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum for saying Mexico would be “incapable” of closing the its border with the United States.

“She’s a new president, right?” Bruce said of Sheinbaum. “She’s got to placate people at home. She did not run as a conservative, and she understands, like Canada does, that it’s this nation’s economy, this nation’s production values and possibilities that make this continent run.” Bruce continued:

So, they’ve got to seem tough for their people, but Mexico’s in chaos right now with the flood that comes through. They allow them to come through at the southern border. She can stop it there because it affects Mexico as well. And, she knows that they can stop it at this border. There’s no negotiating room for Mexico, especially what’s coming in through China, the fentanyl coming up through the northern border. So, she knows what she has to do, Trump will make sure about it. Canada understands what is happening, so they better put on their big boy pants and deal with real grown-ups at this point.
