Joe Rogan called Mexico a “crack house on fire” after numerous assassinations and wondered if the United States could be facing another “JFK-type situation” in the future.

Rogan was joined by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe on an episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Wednesday, and early on Rogan brought up reporting on Mexico’s recent presidential election where Claudia Sheinbaum was elected the first female president of the country.

What’s captured arguably more attention though are the 37 assassinations throughout the campaign.

Reuters reported:

Mexico’s election is now the bloodiest in its modern history after a candidate running for local office in central Puebla state was murdered on Friday at a political rally, taking the number of assassinated candidates to 37 ahead of Sunday’s vote.

Jorge Huerta Cabrera, a candidate who was running for a council seat in the town of Izucar de Matamoros, was gunned down in the attack, according to the state prosecutor’s office.

The killing takes the number of assassinated candidates in the 2024 election season to 37, one more than during the 2021 midterm election when 36 candidates were killed, according to data from security consultancy Integralia.

“That’s our neighbor. We live next to a fucking crack house,” Rogan said.

“That’s on fire!” Hinchcliffe added.

“A crack house on fire run by a Jew…a first lady, a first lady,” Rogan said, laughing.

The podcaster turned his attention to the upcoming presidential election in the United States and wondered if political assassinations could make a return here.

“How far away are we from seeing another JFK-type situation?” Rogan asked.

“Could be close. It seems like there’s a candidate that the government really doesn’t want in,” Hinchcliffe, the host of the Kill Tony podcast, said.

“Yeah, there’s this one guy. What’s his name? The guy who went to the UFC this weekend got a 30-second standing ovation,” Rogan said, referring to Donald Trump. The former president received massive applause at the UFC match, which followed Trump being convicted on more than 30 felony counts in his Manhattan hush money trial.

Rogan argued Trump’s felony conviction only makes him more popular with voters, specifically citing rappers.

“So many rappers are showing support for Trump now, it’s crazy,” he said. “Because now he’s got a felony… and now they know he’s getting trapped by the system just like everybody’s been rapping about, getting trapped by the system, this bullshit system.”
