Theo Von Makes Bernie Sanders Lose It With Joke About Kid Rock Advising Trump
Comedian Theo Von left Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders laughing hysterically when he joked about Kid Rock being an adviser to Donald Trump.
Sanders appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Von’s podcast This Past Weekend for an wide-ranging discussion of everything from Citizens United to climate change. While talking about Trump and the reason for his appeal to voters, Von pointed out the former president’s unorthodox nature is part of what made him so popular.
VON: He doesn’t seem like he’s by the book. That was a thing.
SANDERS: He is not by the book.
VON: And so that’s something. The same as you, it’s like he’s speaking for — it feels like they’re speaking for themselves, right? Whether you agree with what they believe, they believe what they’re saying. And that, I think, comes through clearly to people.
SANDERS: I think you’re right. He’s certainly unusual, gets up there and he rants and does his thing. And he’s not necessarily — I’m sure his advisors go crazy.
VON: Oh, I can’t imagine. Kid Rock is one is advisors, you know? And look, I love Kid Rock; but I don’t know if every advice of his is the best.
Sanders erupted into laugher when he heard Von mention Kid Rock.
Earlier in the episode, the two also had a much more serious discussion about the country’s healthcare system.

Von also told Sanders that in 2020 he wanted the Vermont Independent to run on a ticket with Trump. Sanders responded by explaining he does not support Trump because he considers him a “pathological liar”, among other things.
