Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate Nicole Shanahan declared they would “never sell out this campaign” just hours before Kennedy is reportedly set to drop his campaign and endorse former President Donald Trump.

Mediaite’s Diana Falzone reported on Thursday that Kennedy is expected to drop his longshot campaign to endorse Trump. Kennedy announced that he will be speaking at 2 p.m. on Friday in an address where he’s expected to announce exactly what has been widely reported. Shanahan fueled speculation about the Trump endorsement when she hinted at it in an interview where she said the campaign could back Trump in an effort to stop Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

Just hours ahead of Kennedy’s address, Shanahan joined Adam Carolla’s podcast, and the comedian asked about the reports right off the bat.

“There may be some breaking news here,” he teased.

“Look, I merely shared information yesterday on Tom Bilyeu podcast that I thought was important to share for context so people can understand what our campaign’s been up against,” Shanahan said.

She said the campaign has faced an “incredible amount of sabotage” and being booted from the New York ballot was a major blow for the campaign. Kennedy had gathered more than one million signatures in his effort to make all 50 state ballots.

Shanahan insisted they are still in the race — for the moment.

“No announcement has been made. The announcement would come from Bobby, not from me. I view my role as his running mate and also as his — I’ve been self-funding us,” she said.

Shanahan declared she would “never sell out” the campaign she has been bankrolling.

“We would never sell out this campaign ever. It’s not what we would ever choose to do nor are we defeated in this moment, but I have to say something. We are up against something that is unprecedented,” she said.

She did reiterate that a priority is to keep Harris and her running mate Tim Walz out of the White House, something she expressed in the interview where she suggested a Trump endorsement was in the cards.

“My statement was that we are weighing our options of staying in or working however we can with a plan b to ensure that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz do not end up in office in November,” she said.
