Fani Willis Warns Trump ‘The Train Is Coming’ Following Hearing to Remove Her From Case
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis claimed the election interference case against former President Donald Trump has not “been slowed down at all” by proceedings regarding her relationship with a fellow prosecutor.
Willis gave her remarks on Saturday to CNN regarding the case since the proceedings over her romantic relationship with former lead prosecutor Nathan Wade ended. Defense attorneys claimed Willis hired Wade for him to profit from the prosecution after they started dating.
Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said there was not enough evidence to remove Willis from the case but noted that she had a “tremendous lapse in judgement.” Wade resigned from the case earlier this month following the judge’s ruling.
The district attorney told CNN she is not “embarrassed” by the judge’s ruling and does not need to repair her reputation. She also warned Trump that the “train is coming” regarding his RICO prosecution.
” I don’t feel like my reputation needs to be reclaimed. Let’s say, for the record, I’m not embarrassed by anything I’ve done,” she told CNN. “You know, I guess my greatest crime is I had a relationship with a man. But that’s not something that I find embarrassing in any way. And I know that I have not done anything that’s illegal.”
She also warned Trump that the “train is coming” regarding his RICO prosecution.
Willis added, “All while that was going on, we were writing responsive briefs. We were still doing the case in the way that it needed to be done. I don’t feel like we’ve been slowed down at all. I do think that there are efforts to slow down this train, but the train is coming.”
