Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade has resigned from the Trump Georgia election interference case.
WSB confirmed that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office “has accepted special prosecutor Nathan Wade’s resignation from the election interference case.”
Wade’s resignation letter was posted to X (formerly Twitter). It read in part:
Although the court found that “the defendants failed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest,” I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and move this case forward as quickly as possible.
A letter from DA Willis was also posted to X accepting Wade’s resignation and thanking him for the “professionalism and dignity you have shown over the last 865 days, as you have endured threats against you and your family, as well as unjustified attacks in the media and and in court on your reputation as a lawyer.”
Earlier Friday, Judge Scott McAfee issued a ruling that either Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis or lead prosecutor Wade needed to step down from the case over a perceived conflict of interest. The two were involved in a relationship, which Donald Trump’s lawyers said should disqualify Willis from the case.
This is a breaking story and has been updated.
