Brian Kilmeade and RNC Chair Casually Talk of Spending $1.5 Trillion for Greenland To Get Its Minerals: ‘It Probably Will Pay Off’

President-elect Donald Trump’s bizarre obsession with territorial acquisitions is back in the news thanks to his renewed interest in taking Greenland, which is not for sale.

“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” he wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

As president, Trump famously suggested the U.S. buy Greenland from Denmark, which rejected his overtures and told him the land was not for sale. In response, Trump canceled a visit to the country in 2019.

Greenland’s prime minister has rejected the idea, and there’s no indication Denmark is interested in selling. Regardless, that hasn’t stopped Trump supporters from praising him for it. That includes Brian Kilmeade and Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley, who casually discussed buying the large territory, which is not for sale.

“Why is he interested in Greenland?” Kilmeade asked Whatley on Fox News on Monday night.

“Well, I think from a national security perspective, as he said, certainly [it’s] a place that is very rich in minerals and is, uh, you know, geopolitically important for him,” Whatley responded. “And it’s a conversation that we wanna have with Denmark about being able to use the resources up there.”

“Yeah, it’s gonna cost about $1.5 trillion, but it probably will pay off,” Kilmeade responded. It is unclear where the host got the figure.

Over the weekend, Trump continued having a normal one by threatening to seize control of the Panama Canal.
