‘You’re Tripping Right Now?!’ CNN Hosts Rocked As Diplo Casually Admits He Was High On LSD For On-Air Interview

CNN hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen were left rocked after DJ superstar Diplo’s live and candid confession mid-interview that he was high on LSD while talking with them.

The music producer who was preparing to play a set as part of ABC’s highly anticipated Rockin’ Eve 2025 lineup dropped onto CNN’s competing broadcast, New Year’s Eve Live.

ABC’s celebration, helmed by Ryan Seacrest and a slate of top-tier performers, featured a glittering array of chart-toppers who collaborated in a show that promised an electric start to 2025.

Yet the talk of the town centered on Diplo’s unexpected revelation.

The moment came as Cohen noted Diplo’s past admission that he had taken the drug while running the 2023 LA marathon.

“What’s the most conventional place that you’ve done LSD?” the host asked.

Diplo nonchalantly stunned everyone with: “Right now.”

“Right now!” Cohen exclaimed in response.

“I did some on the helicopter on the way here,” the DJ added.

As co-host Cooper collapsed into hysterical laughter, Cohen checked what he’d heard: “Please. Oh my god, hold on, hold on, hold on. Please tell me…”

“I’m not even lying,” Diplo replied flatly.

“You’re tripping right now?” Cohen repeated.

Diplo, still smiling, explained: “Yeah, but it’s like a light trip,” adding that he may have been “microdosing” or possibly “macrodosed” earlier that day.

“We should point out it’s illegal, right?” Cohen asked Cooper.

“We should just cut this,” Diplo added.

“Cut this?” Cohen replied. “It’s live!”

Cooper mocked the formal need to make a statement and added: “We don’t recommend this at home.”

Shortly after the interview, Cooper admitted he was somewhat envious of Diplo’s lifestyle, exclaiming, “I wish I was Diplo. I got to say. I just think he has a fun, cool lifestyle. Can you imagine his lifestyle? ‘I’m Diplo. I do things.’”

Asked if he followed the DJ on Instagram, Cooper replied, “I’m absolutely going to start. I mean … I feel bad about my own boring life compared to Diplo’s. He’s got helicopters and he’s like doing things. He did like four shots while we were talking.”

In the aftermath, Cohen and Cooper wondered how Diplo could handle performing under such circumstances.

“And he’s going to play. How does he work? How does anybody do anything? I’ve had four shots. I just want to go to sleep,” Cooper joked.

Despite the worry, Diplo still delivered a rousing New Year’s Eve set at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, capping off celebrations as 2024 gave way to 2025.
