Chris Wallace Bids Farewell To ‘Feisty Colleagues’ In One of His Final Shows Before Ditching CNN for ‘New Media’

Chris Wallace offered a partial goodbye on Saturday’s The Chris Wallace Show following the announcement this week that he is leaving CNN.

Wallace announced on Monday that he was leaving CNN at the end of his contract. Wallace will appear on the network until the end of the year. He joined CNN in 2022 after nearly 20 years with Fox News. The veteran journalist opened his show on Saturday and said that next week would serve as his “final show.” He also reiterated his interest in a “new media” career.

“Yep, I’m still here. As some of you may have heard, I’ve decided to leave CNN to pursue a future in new media. For those of you who are concerned, and thank you for your thoughtful notes, I decided to do this months ago and am excited to take on a new challenge,” he said.

Wallace was joined by panelists Kara Swisher, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Reihan Salam, and Kristen Soltis Anderson. Wallace said he’ll miss his “feisty colleagues” and promised fuller thoughts on his last show.

“My only regret is leaving my feisty colleagues here on the panel and the wonderful team that puts all this together and of course, all of you. I’ll have more to say on my final show next week,” he said.

Lachlan Cartwright previously reported that CNN CEO Mark Thompson offered Wallace a significantly reduced deal amid current media struggles.

Wallace has said seeing the growth and influence of podcasts has drawn him to moving on from cable news.

“Chris Wallace is one of the most respected political journalists in the news business with a unique track record across radio, print, broadcast television, cable television and streaming,” Thompson said in a statement. “We want to thank him for the dedication and wisdom he’s brought to all his work at CNN and to wish him the very best for future.”
