Overall, Fox News remained at the top of election coverage before and after the race was called for President-elect Donald Trump, besting CNN and MSNBC by large viewer margins across the board.
On Wednesday, Fox also scored a rare win over ABC’s daytime show The View as America Newsroom and The Faulkner Focus raked in 4.6 million and 4.5 million viewers, respectively. The View, which is regularly the top-rated daytime talk show, brought in 4.47 million viewers.
On election night, Fox News drew in 9.7 million viewers while MSNBC followed behind at 5.5 million primetime viewers from 8 to 11 p.m. ET. CNN lost more than half of its election night audience compared to 2020, drawing 4.7 million total viewers in the primetime hour.
Compared to 2020, Fox’s ratings have fallen as they brought in 14 million viewers during primetime coverage that year, making it the most-watched coverage in the history of cable news.
