Joe Rogan Suggested Trump Hire Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to ‘Write Bangers’ For His Campaign Back in August

Shock rally comedian Tony Hinchcliffe could have been writing “bangers” for Donald Trump months ago if the former president had just listened to podcaster Joe Rogan.

As pointed out on X, formerly Twitter, by investigative journalist Jacqueline Sweet, Rogan made the suggestion on-air last summer.

“It would behoove him to hire a few great comics to just tour with him, and just write one-liners about all these different fuckin’ people,” Rogan said about Trump. “If he could remember them. I know he likes to go off his own head, but if he could remember a few Hinchcliffe bangers. If he hires Hinchcliffe to take him on the road! You know how fucking insane that would be? Hinchcliffe writing bangers for Trump to shit on people.”

Hinchcliffe came under fire by the likes of Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez and other Puerto Rican celebrities after his performance at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.

The comedian, known for his “Kill Tony” podcast, quipped that Puerto Rico was a “floating island of garbage,” and claimed Latinos “love making babies.” Hinchcliffe also made a crack about having an “awesome” time carving a watermelon with a Black friend.

Hinchcliffe has long been known for his racially-charged remarks. Forbes reported that Hinchcliffe was actually dropped from a gig with Rogan’s podcast in 2021 “after he made a series of jokes capitalizing on Asian stereotypes during a set…in which he called a fellow comedian a slur and performed in an accent.”

After news of Hinchcliffe’s rally remarks went viral, a Trump spokesperson claimed the campaign didn’t vet the comedian’s performance in advance. This didn’t pass the smell test with CNN’s Dana Bash, who said Monday, “I’m going to just flatly call BS on the disconnect” between Hinchcliffe’s comments and the Trump camp’s statement.
