Police Reveal Vegas Bombing Suspect Shot Himself Before Cybertruck Detonation

Las Vegas police revealed that the man believed to be responsible for the Trump Hotel bombing shot himself inside the Cybertruck before it blew up on Wednesday.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill gave a press conference on Thursday during which he confirmed the identity of the bomber as Master Sgt. Matthew Alan Livelsberger, who was enlisted as a U.S. Army special operations soldier. At the time of his death, Livelsberger was on approved leave from Germany.

Authorities said Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck in Colorado and that it arrived in Las Vegas an hour before the explosion occurred. Police were able to trace the movements of the vehicle based on charging stations used by Livelsberger before the attack.

McMahill told reporters on Thursday that Livelsberger sustained a gunshot wound to his head prior to the vehicle’s explosion:

We also discovered through the coroner’s office that the individual had sustained a gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle, and one of the handguns was found at his feet inside of the vehicle. Obviously, in how we’re trying to identify him and I’m feeling comfortable to give you this information, is a tremendous amount of substantial evidence to include he rented the Turo vehicle. There are two tattoos, one of which was on the stomach and one of which is on the arm that we can see bits and pieces of it as in comparison to what it is that we now know he had on his body.
