WATCH: Thousands of Germans Gather at Train Station to Embrace Ukrainian Refugees and Offer Them Place to Stay
Reuters posted a video on Wednesday night of Germans gathering at a train station to embrace Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country amid the Russian military invasion.
The video shows a train pulling into a Berlin train station, followed by a woman who has been given a bouquet of flowers getting off the train and embracing a woman on the platform who had apparently offered her a place to stay.

Inside the station, another woman who appears to be a humanitarian worker says, “On the right side there’s like thousands of people from Berlin offering place to stay. This is absolutely incredible. You just like enter the building and there are like thousands of people” there to offer support and a place to stay, holding up signs “in Ukrainian, in English, in Russian.”
The video then shows a crowd of people holding signs offering the refugees a place to stay. Others can be seen picking up food and basic necessities from donated supplies.
“I was very scared and I had to get out from this hell,” said a female refugee. “And now I’m here. I hope I’m in a safe place.”
A man shared his experience, saying that “the situation was very difficult because they were only evacuating women and children, so me as a [man], I was not allowed to enter the train or the bus, so I had to walk about 30 km [18.6 miles] on foot to access the border … in a temperature of minus 30 degrees [Celsius, minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit]. So it was really horrible.”
More than a million people have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion last week, according to the United Nations.
