Fox News host Laura Ingraham used the occasion of Tuesday’s vice presidential debate to promote a company selling gold products.
Hours before Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was set to debate Sen. JD Vance in New York, Ingraham fired off a tweet slamming Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris. The Fox host told followers to “protect yourself” from a future Harris administration.
“Thousands of Americans will see what’s at stake after tonight’s VP Debate,” she wrote. “Protect yourself from a potential Harris/Walz disaster. The tweet contains a link to a website featuring the host in an ad for a company called Goldco.
Ingraham has promoted the company on her social media accounts multiple times over the last month. On Sept. 17 and 22, she tweeted the same link while urging followers to “protect” themselves against a potential Harris presidency. The Fox News host also posted the link to her Facebook account on Sept. 3.
The link takes readers to a page featuring a photo of Ingraham and the words, “Now is the time to diversify your money with gold and silver.”
Precious metals have long held prominence on the American right. Gold in particular is viewed by some investors as a hedge against inflation, though many eschew physical gold and prefer to buy exposure to the metal via exchange-traded funds or other means.
Ingraham is not the only notable right-wing figure to push precious metals. Last week, former President Donald Trump retweeted a link to a website called Trump Coins, where MAGA acolytes can buy one-ounce silver coins for more than 200% of what silver is trading at.
