Conspiracy Theorist Laura Loomer and Senator Rick Scott Trade Compliments During Chummy Interview: ‘Saved Every Single Note That You Ever Sent to Me’
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) joined bigoted conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer for a chummy interview in which Loomer expressed her support for Scott’s bid to lead the Republican Senate conference on Tuesday.
After calling into Loomer’s show, Scott thanked Loomer for “all your help in helping me win my election.”
“I’m very appreciative of you,” he said, recalling that Loomer worked on his gubernatorial campaign in 2014.
Loomer responded by pulling out a letter that Scott wrote her while she was in college.
“I always defend you and I say I’ve never met a politician in my life who takes the time to write letters to people,” she said before going on to reveal that she “saved every single note that you ever sent to me.”
“I really cherish these letters,” she told Scott.
“I’m very appreciative. You know, I’ve been blessed, I’ve gotten to meet wonderful people and work with wonderful people,” he replied. “And congratulations on all your success.”
Much of the rest of the program was devoted to Loomer making the case against Scott’s rivals in the GOP leadership contest. At one point, she pulled up a screenshot of articles showing that Senator John Thune (R-SD) dismissed Donald Trump’s attempts to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
“People have to take this concern about elections security seriously,” submitted Scott. “This is a big issue to Americans.”
She concluded their conversation by praising him as a “true Trump loyalist” and declaring that “the only way we are going to have a successful Trump administration and somebody who is actually going to impose a MAGA majority in the Senate is if Senator Rick Scott becomes our next Senate GOP leader.”
Loomer stole headlines last month when she accompanied Trump first to his debate with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and then to multiple 9/11 memorials the next day. The far-right personality has described herself as a white nationalist, celebrated the drowning deaths of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, and, after visiting the 9/11 memorials with Trump, promoted a conspiracy theory about the terrorist attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 American lives.
