‘Never a Chance in Hell’: Former Bernie Sanders Advisor Tells Dan Abrams Harris Stood Zero Chance Against Trump
A former advisor for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told NewsNation’s Dan Abrams “there was never a chance in hell” as she assessed Vice President Kamala Harris’s chances of winning the 2024 election.
Tezlyn Figaro joined Abrams, Mediaite’s founder, Friday night to discuss the 2024 election, which Donald Trump won handily after sweeping all seven battleground states and winning the popular vote.
Abrams noted Sanders had been critical of the Harris campaign in the days after Harris’s defeat and asked her for a postmortem. Figaro shared some criticism of her former boss while explaining she felt Harris was at a disadvantage from the start of her 107-day campaign.
“Well, let me just address Bernie Sanders right out the gate,” Figaro said in response to Sanders’s excoriating Democrats for losing the election. “The bottom line is, although what he said may be true, Bernie Sanders never supported VP Harris.” Figaro added:
So, he’s not in a position to really speak. He did not do that with Joe Biden. He immediately endorsed Joe Biden. He threw the progressive movement completely under the bus and said that Joe Biden would be the most progressive president in our recent history. So I don’t appreciate his take because I think is disingenuous.
But the main issue is there was never a chance in hell, and I’m just being very clear, never a chance in hell that VP Harris was going to have a shot at this. I said it Dan, in June, I said it in July, they’re setting her up for a 100-day campaign. A woman of color in particularly, a 100-day campaign, was a disaster. Joe Biden should have got off the last two years. They should have had a primary and ran somebody for that seat. So there’s a lot of finger-pointing that’s going on, as it should be. But there’s a list of things. But I won’t take up too much of time.
