‘Offended’ Fox News Host Loses It After Liz Cheney Gets Award: ‘I Just Can’t Believe That President Biden Would Do This’

Jason Chaffetz of Fox News is “offended” that President Joe Biden gave former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) an award on Thursday.

Chaffetz, a Fox News contributor and former member of Congress, guest-hosted Thursday’s Hannity, where he interviewed Reps. James Comer (R-KY), Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Ronny Jackson (R-TX). Hours earlier, President Joe Biden bestowed upon Cheney the Presidential Citizens Medal, which is the second-highest award the president can give to a civilian. Biden also gave the award to Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who chaired the Jan. 6 committee on which Cheney also served. Republicans have long maligned that panel, which investigated Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

“Congressman Donalds, I wanna ask you,” Chaffetz began. “I don’t how you feel, but I was offended that President Biden gave… the second-highest medal of honor, it’s not called the Medal of Honor, but a medal honoring these two congressmen – Congressman Liz Cheney [sic] and Bennie Thompson. What’s your reaction to that?”

“My reaction is I’m highly offended, but I’m not surprised,” Donalds replied. “Joe Biden and his White House have lived in the bizarro land where no Americans really exist. That’s why the presidency under Joe Biden has been an abject disaster. This is just one of the last pieces of icing on that cake. Look, everybody knows that the fake January 6 committee, the only purpose was to basically put a lot of propaganda out into the information stream to go after and attack Donald Trump. It failed, completely backfired.”

Chaffetz then turned to Comer, and repeated that he does not like the work Thompson and Cheney did on the committee.

“I just can’t believe that President Biden would do this at this time,” Chaffetz said. “But what’s your reaction to it?”

“Well, it’s a slap in the face to all the good Americans who actually deserve to be recognized for their public service or for their sacrifice or for their community activism. You think about all the first responders that risk their lives every day, all the military frontline soldiers who risk their lives every day, all the people that run charitable organizations and do good things at church. And none of them got recognized by Joe Biden, but he recognized Liz Cheney and it Bennie Thompson.”
