‘So Unpopular and Disgusting!’ Trump Rails Against Liz Cheney — Accuses Her of ‘Egregious and Unthinkable Acts of Crime’

President-elect Donald Trump accused former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney of committing “egregious” crimes as a member of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack on Sunday morning.

He also credited Cheney’s support for his 2024 opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, for helping him win last month’s election while labeling her a “real loser.”

On his Truth Social account, Trump wrote:

Liz Cheney has been exposed in the Interim Report, by Congress, of the J6 Unselect Committee as having done egregious and unthinkable acts of crime. At the same time, however, she helped the Democrats lose the Election by giving her support – She is so unpopular and disgusting, a real loser!

The report Trump was referring to originated from Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA). Loudermilk, who chairs the House Administration’s subcommittee on Oversight, accused Cheney and the committee of “collusion” and lying.

“Former Representative Liz Cheney colluded with ‘star witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge,” the report claimed, adding Cheney “should be investigated for potential criminal witness tampering based on the new information about her communication.” Hutchinson, to be clear, was the one who contracted Cheney. She did so three days before dismissing her attorney, Stefan Passantino — who was paid for by a Trump PAC. She immediately hired new counsel.

Loudermilk’s report also stated that Hutchinson’s claim that Trump lunged at his Secret Service detail just prior to the storming of the Capitol to have them take the then-president to the building “lacked any evidence.”

Loudermilk also claimed he had uncovered evidence Cheney and the other seven members of the bipartisan committee amplified some witness claims while shielding others from the public.

The report concluded, “Former Representative Liz Cheney used the January 6 Select Committee as a tool to attack President Trump, at the cost of investigative integrity and Capitol security.”

In a separate statement, Loudermilk said:

Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson are trying to say that my investigation has disregarded the truth of January 6, pointing to their Select Committee’s “tremendous weight of evidence.” We evaluated that exact weight based on their records and found it slimmer than claimed. Cheney claims the Select Committee’s report was based on the testimony of hundreds of witnesses, whose testimony was made public. However, Cheney and Thompson did not make ALL transcripts public. They hid transcripts of first-hand witnesses who directly refuted their “star witness” Cassidy Hutchinson’s sensational story, which Cheney had personally procured.

Trump has said numerous times the committee acted criminally and its members belong in jail.

Cheney responded earlier this month, telling The Hill, “Here is the truth: Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election and seize power.”
