Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on Saturday Night Live three days before the election and poked fun at herself and her opponent, former President Donald Trump, during the show’s cold open.
The show opened with an impersonation of Trump wearing his garbage truck vest and meandering at a rally behind a Trump-Vance podium and referenced his recent comments about protecting women and the infamous 2016 Access Hollywood tape. The mock rally was broadcast by CNN.
Impersonations of JD Vance, Tim Walz, and Doug Emhoff also made appearances in the show’s cold open. Dana Carvey also returned to show off his doddering Joe Biden act before the real vice president made her entrance.
As Harris, Maya Rudolph sat in front of a mirror for a conversation with herself when the actual Harris appeared on the other side.
“I’m just here to remind you, you’ve got this,” Harris said while jabbing Trump for being unable to open a door and psyching herself up for Tuesday’s election.
“I see what you did there, like to a garbage truck, right?” Rudolph’s Harris asked.
“I don’t really laugh like that, do I?” The vice president replied.
Rudolph retorted, “A little bit. now, Kamala, take my palmala. The American people want to stop the chaos, and end the dramala with a cool new stop mamala.”
To close the show’s cold open, Harris embraced Rudolph and in unison they shouted, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
