Kamala Harris Literally Drops Jaw — Gives Stunned Laugh Watching Raunchy SNL Maya Rudolph Joke For First Time
Vice President Kamala Harris reacted with a stunned laugh to Maya Rudolph’s impersonation of her in a Saturday Night Live clip that she was seeing for the first time — and which included a provocative punchline.
Rudolph’s return to SNL was much anticipated after President Joe Biden stepped aside in July and paved the way for his VP to be the nominee. The comic legend did not disappoint when she starred in the 50th anniversary season opener’s cold open — a 13-minute kitchen sink roundup of a seismic political summer. Rudolph was the standout.
On Tuesday’s edition of ABC’s The View, VP Harris took questions — and more than a little praise — from co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sara Haines.
In a lighter moment to wrap up the interview, Behar showed Harris part of that cold open that featured a riotous bit of wordplay:
JOY BEHAR: I know, you have to leave. They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: Yeah. (LAUGHS)
JOY BEHAR: So, Maya Rudolph on SNL. The cast of Saturday Night Live is delivering for you for you. I think she’s really good. She’s spot on. Let’s watch her.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: Okay.
JOY BEHAR: Let’s watch her.
MAYA RUDOLPH AS VP KAMALA HARRIS: I am so happy to be campaigning in whatever swing state I’m in, which I will just refer to is Wisconsa-PennsylVaGeorgia. Because I am going to protect your Va-Georgia.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: Oh my GOD! (LAUGHS) I hadn’t seen that!
JOY BEHAR: Do you like it? Do you like it?
VP KAMALA HARRIS: So good!
JOY BEHAR: Do you like it? It’s fun.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: Maya Rudolph, I mean. She’s so good.
JOY BEHAR: Yeah.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: She had the whole thing! The suit, the jewelry, the mannerisms!
ANA NAVARRO: One last question. If–no when you become president, will you come back on The View? We’ll hold you to it.
VP KAMALA HARRIS: Of course I will. Of course I will.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, yeah. Okay. We’re honored and proud to have you at this table.
