Ana Navarro Compares Trump as Time Person of the Year to Hitler, Stalin: ‘He’s In That Kind of Company’

Ana Navarro denigrated President-elect Donald Trump’s selection as Time’s “Person of the Year” Friday, noting a number of 20th Century authoritarians had also taken home the award.

Trump, who resurrected what appeared to be a dead political career four years ago and turned it into a second White House term after winning the 2024 election was named Time‘s most notable person of the year on Thursday. Time explained in a profile of Trump:

For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months. In many years, that choice is a difficult one. In 2024, it was not.

On Friday’s edition of The View, Navarro wrote off the accolade and noted Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Ayatollah Khomeini had all been previous winners. After Sunny Hostin attacked Trump during a discussion about his selection, Navarro said:

Look for me. I was like, okay, at least this is a real Time magazine cover. Because you remember he used to keep sharing a fake. Yes. He used to keep a fake Time magazine cover with the fake ones that he used to keep in his in his country clubs. And also, just as you know. So, you know, he’s it’s not always been great people that have been on the cover of Time. Right. It’s been people like Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler and Khrushchev and Khomeini. So he’s in that kind of company as well.

Hitler was named Time’s “Man of the Year” in 1938 while Stalin won the award a year later. The Soviet dictator would be declared “Man of the Year” again in 1942.

Nikita Khrushchev and Khomeini took home their selections in 1957 and 1980, respectively.
