Devastating Poll Finds That Americans Rate Biden as the Worst President Since Richard Nixon
A new poll from Gallup suggests that President Joe Biden will be remembered by Americans as the worst commander-in-chief since Richard Nixon, who resigned in disgrace back in 1974.
The survey, which was conducted between December 2 and 18 of last year, found that just 6% of respondents believe Biden’s presidency was outstanding. Thirteen percent said it was above average, 26% said it was average, 17% said it was below average, and 37% believe it was poor.
That last total is the highest for any president included in the poll, and Biden’s net positive rating of -35 is better only than Nixon’s -42. The next worse rating after Biden belongs to George W. Bush, at -9.
President-elect Donald Trump is next on the list. According to Gallup, 17% of Americans believe Trump’s first term was outstanding, 23% rate it as above average, 16% say it was average, 13% who call it below average, and 31% who would go so far as to deem it poor. His net positive rating came in at -4.
Trump’s rating with both members of his own party and independents is substantially better than Biden’s. While 86% of Republicans and 29% of independents believe Trump’s first term was either outstanding or above average, just 44% of Democrats and 15% of independents think the same of Biden’s tenure in the Oval Office.
Despite his dismal standing with the public, Biden continues to insist that he would have beaten Trump had he not been forced out of the 2024 race by leaders in his party.
In an interview with USA Today released on Monday, Biden was asked if he could have won reelection and he responded in the affirmative.
“It’s presumptuous to say that, but I think yes based on the polling,” said Biden.
