Bill Maher Asks Raskin ‘What’s The Plan’ If Trump Wins — ‘Are We Just Going To Knit Pussy Hats?’

Comic and political pundit Bill Maher asked Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) what his plan is if former President Donald Trump wins, “are we just going to knit pussy hats?”

On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was the interview guest, and Tim Miller and Michael Moynihan were the panel guests.

Maher said he believes Trump will go after Raskin if he wins, and asked “What are you going to actually do” if that happens:

BILL MAHER: I think I’ve been on this page. My question to you is, these things he says he’s going to do put people like you in jail. I mean, he says it. He say he want–, What are you going to actually do?

I asked this of Jared Polis last week. I didn’t, I was not totally satisfied with the answer. What are you going to actually do? I mean, are we just going to knit pussy hats, you know? I don’t know what the plan is.

And it reminds me of the first time when I kept saying to Democrats, you know, he’s not going to leave. And they would laugh and say, I smoked too much pot. And then–.

What are you actually going to do?

REP. JAMIE RASKIN: I’m going to wake up and then go to work. I’m not going anywhere.

(APPLAUSE).

I mean. Donald Trump has never won the popular vote. The Democrats have won eight of the nine last presidential elections and the popular vote. Even when Trump won in the Electoral College against Hillary, she beat him by 3 million votes. Joe Biden beat him by 7.5 million votes, 306 to 232.

And the vast majority of the people in America reject fascism, authoritarianism and racism and want to get back to what the real American story is. And I’m not going anywhere. By the way.

BILL MAHER: But it is tied. It’s not that they can’t be the vast majority because it’s tied.

REP. JAMIE RASKIN: Well, look, the way I see it is look, I’m a I’m a big John Dewey fan, he said. The only solution to the ills of democracy is more democracy than a great.
