RFK Jr. Tells Gutfeld Tribalism ‘More Insidious’ On the Left, Dems ‘Less Tolerant’ Than Republicans

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed on Friday that Democrats are far less tolerant of differing beliefs than Republicans.

Kennedy joined Fox News’ Gutfeld! as he continues campaigning for former President Donald Trump. After dropping his independent run for president, Kennedy became a co-chair of Trump’s transition team.

On Friday’s Gutfeld!, host Greg Gutfeld first declared Democrats less tolerant than Republicans in reaction to a Generation Lab poll released through Axios that found young people more inclined to think negatively about a date if they are a Trump voter as opposed to a supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris. According to the survey, 43% between the ages of 18-34 would view a date more negatively if they had voted for Trump, while 19% in the same age group same the same about a date who voted for Harris.

Kennedy said in reaction:

“I was interested in this because of the observation you made that it’s kind of a paradox that Democrats see themselves as the party of tolerance. And, I think, you know, there is the intolerance, there’s vitriol, there’s poison, there’s anger on both sides, but I’ve found that it’s more that the Democrats are much less tolerant of somebody holding different political beliefs. There is a tribalism, and the orthodoxies are much more insidious in the Democratic Party. And it’s disturbing to me because I think the polarization is the worst thing for our country and that, you know, we have huge problems as a country, but we also are very resilient and we’re never going to solve them if we’re not able to come together. And I think that the Democrats tend to be much more intolerant than Republicans on these issues, as my personal observation, and it’s interesting to see that validated by that poll.”

Gutfeld claimed Republicans “put their politics in a box” and argued politics tend to be more part of Democrats’ “identity.”

Kennedy pushed this idea further and said Republicans are “much more inclined to critical thinking,” calling the Democratic Party that his father and uncle once belonged to is long gone.

Kennedy said:

“There’s also I think that the people who these days who tend to be Republican or conservative are much more inclined to critical thinking. And I think that used to be the purview of the Democratic Party, but you had said before that we left the Democratic Party that Elon, myself and Tulsi, I think all of us feel like the Democratic Party left us. The party that Robert Kennedy, of John Kennedy doesn’t exist anymore. That was the party anti-war, it was the party against censorship, it was the party that opposed the corporate takeover of our government. Today, the Democratic Party is the party of war, it’s the party of censorship, it’s the party of Wall Street, Big Pharma, Big tech, Big Data, Big Banking, and the military industrial complex.”

“And big butts because of the diet,” Gutfeld added.

“Yeah, well, I, uh, yeah,” Kennedy said nervously before wiping his brow while Gutfeld and the audience laughed.

GREG GUTFELD: “I mean, I’ve noticed it all my life as a as a lefty and then a righty and then a nothing. You know, I do think that for some reason, liberal politics are tied more to the ego than maybe Republican politics because Republicans put their politics in a box. You know that. You have family, you have a job, you have sports, recreation, but for Democrats, politics is part of your identity. Maybe that’s what it is. I don’t know. That’s my thought.”

KENNEDY: “There’s also I think that the people who these days who tend to be Republican or conservative are much more inclined to critical thinking. KENNEDY: “Yeah, well, I, uh, yeah.”

GUTFELD: “It’s true! Big Food!”
