WATCH: Karen Pence Appears to Totally Snub Trump and Melania at Jimmy Carter’s Funeral
Karen Pence did not seem interested in greeting Donald and Melania Trump when the pair arrived at late President Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
Carter was honored Thursday at Washington DC’s National Cathedral. The state funeral came a day after Carter’s body lay in state in the U.S. Capitol rotunda.
Moments before the funeral began, President-elect Trump arrived with his wife Melania. As they made their way to their seats — a row behind President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — they stopped by former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen. When Pence spotted the Trumps, he stood up from his seat and shook both of their hands. The moment between Pence and Trump was especially significant as it was one of their first face-to-face meeting since the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot — a riot that saw pro-Trump protestors calling for the hanging of the vice president.
Still, the handshake between the two men was cordial.
Karen, however, appeared to be a completely different story. While her husband stood up to greet the Trumps, Karen stayed in her seat and didn’t even so much as look in their direction. Once Trump shook Pence’s hand, he briefly glanced in her direction before he and Melania continued down the row.
