‘He’s a Genius’: Kara Swisher Praises Elon Musk, Says ‘He’s Done Very Well’ After $44 Billion Twitter Purchase
CNN contributor and influential tech journalist Kara Swisher praised Elon Musk’s business brain on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Wednesday, calling the billionaire surrogate of President-elect Donald Trump “a genius.”
After panelist Dave Smith said it was hard to believe that Musk’s 2022 purchase of Twitter for $44 billion was “motivated financially,” and that the purchase was “not the best money-making scheme,” Swisher disagreed.
“He’s done very well with it,” she protested. “It’s been a very useful tool.”
Smith replied, “Okay, well you’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place now because that does seem to make him a genius, which you wanted to deny.”
Swisher declared, “I think he’s a genius. Listen, he is a genius investor. I will give him that.”
Host Piers Morgan then weighed in, “Let me tell you why he’s a genius. He bought X and then he went all in on Trump. Trump wins and just by Trump winning, his stake, Musk’s stake in Tesla made him $100 billion, which is more than twice the valuation that he paid for X. So that is business genius.”
SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah disagreed with the assertion that Musk was a genius and criticized the billionaire’s relationship with China.
“He’s not a genius,” Obeidallah argued. “Elon Musk, my friend, is a cancer to democracy. That’s what he is.”
He noted, “Elon Musk refuses to criticize the Chinese leadership. Even Steve Bannon, the philosopher king of MAGA, just said Elon Musk’s paymaster is China. Vivek Ramaswamy said in 2023 that Elon Musk is a circus monkey – that’s his words, a circus monkey – for China.”
