ESPN’s Around the Horn — considered one of the network’s staple programs over the last two decades — will be coming to an end in 2025.

The New York Post on Wednesday first reported that ESPN executives planned on ending the show’s 23-year run. On Thursday, sources confirmed the news with The Athletic. The show will conclude in summer 2025.

Around the Horn premiered in 2002. It was first hosted by ex-ESPN host Max Kellerman before Tony Reali took over in 2004. Along with Pardon the Interruption during the 5 p.m. hour, the show was part of ESPN’s “Happy Hour” from 5-6. The timing also meant that viewers were adults coming home from work and students coming home from school, further endearing it to many.

The show can also be credited with helping to make more than a few household names within the industry. Woody Paige (and his humorous chalkboard quotes), J.A. Adande, Bill Plaschke, and Tim Cowlishaw have been regular Around the Horn contestants for more than a decade. After them, a new generation of on-air stars emerged in the form of Bomani Jones, Jemele Hill, Pablo Torre, and Mina Kimes.

One source told the New York Post that ESPN will soon begin talks to develop a replacement for the time slot. Reali’s future is unclear.
