CNN’s Anderson Cooper Gets Kicked Like A Mule By First Tequila Shot Of New Year’s Eve Show

CNN New Year’s Eve hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen kicked off their annual show with a ceremonial shot of tequila that hit Cooper hard.

New Year’s Eve means many things to many people — time to load up on all the things you’re going to give up in a few hours until your resolve weakens eight or nine days into the new year, time to look back on a year that was full of surprises, and if you’re a media figure, time to celebrate that appearance on Mediaite’s Most Influential In Media 2024 with your favorite bubbly or mocktail.

And if you’re a media watcher, it’s time to sample the closing moments with a stunning display of Auld Lang Synergy across the cable and broadcast television… do people still say “dial?”

Everyone from Boomers to Zoomers can relate to the Ryan Seacrest-hosted NYE institution that is Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve over on ABC, while NBC offers up The Day Drinking with Seth Meyers New Year’s Special and CBS goes country with New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.

On cable, there’s reruns on MSNBC and Fox News personalities yukking it up on Jimmy Failla’s All-American New Year’s Bash. And it wouldn’t be New Year’s without the Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen–fueled antics over on CNN New Year’s Eve Live With Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.

Just after 8 pm, Cohen served up the first shots of the night after explaining the social media pressure on CNN to let Cooper get hammered after they sent him out into hurricanes to get brained by debris the rest of the year. Cooper later remarked that he was “really feeling” that first shot, as his immediate grimace and convulsions indicated.
