CNN’s Jake Tapper Notes Frostiness Between Biden, Harris and Their Spouses at Carter Funeral: ‘Didn’t See a Particularly Warm Greeting’

CNN anchor Jake Tapper noted a greeting he described as not “particularly warm” between President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and their spouses at Jimmy Carter’s funeral.

Cameras inside the National Cathedral captured the moment President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden greeted Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. There seemed to be minimal eye contact between the quartet, and no handshakes were exchanges.

Tapper did qualify what seemed to be a frosty exchange by noting the solemnity of the occasion.

“There’s a President Joe Biden and first Lady Joe Biden. And I think he has 11 days left as president of the United States. Obviously an eventful year, one that he did not plan for,” Tapper noted. ” Started the year as a would be Democratic presidential nominee, and we all know what happened after that. Again, you didn’t see a particularly warm greeting between the first couple and the second couple. But again, we are at a funeral, so one has to take that into account when trying to read the body language of the individuals there.”

Nonetheless, the awkward moment didn’t escape the notice of many observers — particularly on the Right:
